Africa’s Fastest Man Says No Freebie Races for Viral Star IShowSpeed
Kenya’s fastest man just put a hard stop on the IShowSpeed hype train.
The fire started Tuesday when Ferdinand Omanyala dropped a blunt warning in an interview: he’s willing to race the American YouTube star—but not for free. And he didn’t mess around. The fee? $50,000, or roughly KSh 6.4 million.
“No charity races,” Omanyala said. “He has a team, I have a team. If he wants to compete, of course, he will reach out—but we are not doing it for free.”

Social media erupted instantly. Fans tagged Omanyala nonstop, demanding he face the 20-year-old viral creator. Some expected a fun exhibition, others wanted fireworks. Omanyala, though, kept it cool—and confident. On X, he joked, “I would whoop him by the third step.”

Speed’s track record isn’t exactly spotless. He “beat” Olympic 200m champ Letsile Tebogo in Botswana—but only after Tebogo slipped. He also lost a high-profile 50m dash to Noah Lyles in front of millions of viewers.
Now, all eyes are on Speed. Will he drop millions to race Africa’s Sub-10 king? Or let the showdown slip into another viral “what if”?
For Omanyala, it’s clear: this isn’t content, it’s business. And for fans, the drama is just getting started.

From 43kg to 62kg: Eve Mungai Fires Back at Body-Shamers
The Kenyan content creator has revealed that she was heavily body-shamed during a period when she weighed just 43kg, with online comments about her slim frame becoming so intense that she says she cried during an interview.
And now, Eve is making it clear that the pressure did not disappear after she gained weight.
The popular content creator recalled the harsh comments she received while reflecting on her old photos, saying: “You guys bullied me hadi nikalia kwa hii interview.”
At the time, Eve’s weight had reportedly remained around the 43kg mark, something that attracted constant attention from social media users.
She later began working out and embarked on a weight-gain journey.
By December 2025, Eve revealed that she had reached 62kg, her highest weight at the time.
But there was a twist.
Even after transforming her body, the comments continued.
Some people questioned her new appearance and even suggested that she should return to her former body.
Eve pushed back, making it clear that her body was not something the internet gets to control.
“You do not get to choose what version of me you like,” she said.
Her revelation has reignited the conversation around body-shaming in Kenya, especially the way celebrities and influencers are judged whether they are considered “too thin” or “too big.”

Foi Wambui Loses Bid to Exit Mutoriah Copyright Case
Foi Wambui has been ordered to remain in a copyright battle over Mutoriah’s hit song “Beta” after a court rejected her attempt to have the case against her thrown out.
The actress and content creator is facing a lawsuit filed by musician Mutoriah over the alleged unauthorised use of his song in an Oppo smartphone advertisement.
The dispute centres on a skit Wambui featured in while promoting Oppo’s Reno 12 5G. Mutoriah claims his music was used without his permission or a synchronization licence.
A synchronization licence is required when copyrighted music is paired with visual content, particularly in commercial advertising.
Mutoriah says he discovered the advert circulating on social media on August 31, 2024.
He later issued a legal notice demanding an apology and other remedies over the alleged copyright infringement.
With the court rejecting Wambui’s bid to exit the case, the copyright dispute now remains alive, putting the use of music in Kenyan influencer and brand campaigns firmly under the spotlight.
