New Trailer For The Color Purple Movie Musical

Published

on

There’s a noticeable trend of movies being adapted into musicals and then returning to the big screen.

The Color Purple, in particular, boasts an impressive team both in front of and behind the camera. This should come as no surprise, considering Alice Walker’s Pulitzer-winning 1982 novel and Steven Spielberg’s 1985 film adaptation, which earned 11 Oscar nominations. The musical version also received Tony nominations, building high expectations for the upcoming musical movie adaptation. Take a look at the latest trailer for more insights…

This time, Marcus Gardley has adapted the story (utilizing Marsha Norman’s musical book), which follows Celie’s journey, portrayed by Fantasia Barrino, an African-American woman in the deep South from the early to mid-20th century. Celie faces the daunting task of discovering her identity after enduring years of abuse from her stepfather, husband, and others over four decades.

With Blitz Bazawule as the director and the original film star Oprah Winfrey now one of the producers, the cast includes Taraji P. Henson, Colman Domingo, Aunjanue Ellis, Corey Hawkins, H.E.R., Danielle Brooks, and Halle Bailey. Whether this production continues to attract awards and nominations remains to be seen.

The Color Purple (maintaining the American spelling for its UK release) is scheduled to hit cinemas on January 26, following its Christmas Day release in the United States.

Esther Passaris Drops Makadara MP Bid, Reveals Why

Published

By

Esther Passaris has pulled out of the Makadara MP race, saying Nairobi residents convinced her to stay in the Woman Representative seat.

The Nairobi Woman Representative revealed that her decision followed consultations with residents, ODM party leaders and opinion polls.

Passaris said her plan to contest Makadara was genuine. But as she moved around Nairobi, she claims residents kept asking the same question:

“What about us? Don’t we matter? We don’t want to lose you as our Woman Rep, Mama.”

That feedback, she said, changed the direction of her 2027 political plans.

Passaris will now defend her Nairobi Woman Representative seat for a third term in the 2027 General Election. She formally announced the bid on August 22, even launching a campaign song.

Her Makadara ambitions had emerged in February when she said the MP position would give her an opportunity to contribute more directly to the constituency’s development.

She had reportedly settled on Makadara because the seat was expected to become vacant, with incumbent MP George Aladwa linked to a Nairobi gubernatorial bid.

Now Passaris says the message from Nairobi has become clear.

She is staying put.

She also vowed to keep the Nairobi Woman Rep seat within the ODM and broad-based coalition ahead of the 2027 elections.

By

Raila Odinga’s life could soon become a six-part documentary series.

His daughter, Winnie Odinga, has revealed plans to turn the late Kenyan political giant’s life story into a major screen project.

Winnie said she wants to create a six-part series covering Raila’s political journey, personal life and experiences away from the cameras.

And there’s more.

She revealed that she personally recorded conversations with her father over the years. Those recordings could provide rare material for the project.

Winnie also hopes the documentary could eventually find a home on a major streaming platform such as Netflix, although no deal has been confirmed.

Beyond the screen, she is also considering writing a memoir about her life with Raila, including memories from some of Kenya’s most defining political moments.

Raila died in October 2025 after decades at the centre of Kenyan politics.

Now, his daughter wants to tell the story behind the politician, using memories and recordings that could offer a more personal look at the man millions knew simply as Baba.

Isaya Yunge Breaks Silence on Viral Claims About ‘White Ex-Wife’ and Child

Published

By

Isaya Yunge, husband to Charlene Ruto, has broken his silence over viral claims alleging he previously fathered a child with a white ex-wife.

The speculation exploded online after photos and video clips surfaced showing Yunge spending time with a young child. Social media users quickly began connecting the images to claims about his past relationships.

But Yunge has now set the record straight.

He says the child is his niece, not his daughter.

According to Yunge, the girl is the daughter of his brother, Dr. David Wachira, who is married to a white woman.

Yunge also expressed anger over the child being dragged into online speculation, warning that he could take legal action against people spreading what he described as false and unverified claims about his family.

“The child is my niece,” Yunge said, arguing that a minor had been unnecessarily pulled into social media drama.

The controversy comes amid heightened public interest in Yunge’s private life following his high-profile marriage to President William Ruto’s daughter, Charlene Ruto.

Since their wedding, social media users have closely followed the couple, with Yunge’s personal and family history coming under increased scrutiny.

Yunge maintains that the circulating photos simply show him spending time with his niece and has urged an end to the speculation.
