Movie star Leonardo DiCaprio has chosen Kenya as his next destination for his next movie.
Actor Leonardo DiCaprio, who won an Oscar for his role in “The Revenant,” is famous for his roles in hit movies like “Titanic,” “Wolf of Wall Street,” and “Catch Me if You Can.” At 48, he operates both a production company, Appian Way Productions, and an environmental non-profit.
The budget for his upcoming film, to be shot in Kenya, is estimated at 2.4 billion Kenyan Shillings. Kenya’s Sports Cabinet Secretary confirmed that Kakamega Forest will be one location for the movie and highlighted that it will boost the country’s film industry and tourism. The Secretary stated that some scenes will be filmed in Kisumu and Migori counties and that the government, in collaboration with Hollywood producers, has made the movie possible through various agreements, including a possible tax rebate of 10% of the budget, which amounts to 280 million Kenyan Shillings. The movie will also serve to educate and grow the local film industry, promoting local tourist attractions to a global audience.
